I subscribed to this system for quite some time. After starting out well, it faltered, recovered, faltered again. - you see it at the trading curve.
The trading itself is rather disciplined. All orders are brackets, so there is clear stop-loss as well. One or two trades typically a day. - Sometimes none.
So the problem of this approach is none of the standard problems like over-leveraging. The basic problem seems simply to be that the signals are not good enough.
You can compare the C2 results with the developer system description. - If you factor in the rather high fee, this system is a clear looser.
If you wonder, why I still give it two stars: I value a disciplined trading approach, even if it is not fully successful.
I used to subscribe to this system and I feel like the first review on it is a bit unfair. I no longer subscribe to this system bc $150/month is a bit much for me as my trading account is rather small. I do feel that this is a good system though.
More than 80% of the trades are profitable. Annual return is 36%+ with an 11% DD. That’s a multiple of about 3.2 which is very good. High Realism Factor factor. I look for systems that went through the fall of 2008 which was a major DD period. Tradan did just fine. Buys with stop orders placed at market open. The web site indicates that the NUMBER OF SUBSCRIBERS IS LIMITED TO 5. I would think Tradan will be closing soon to new subscribers. This appears to be a winner!
Good system.
The track record now of about three years does confirms the concept.
The only thing I got worried a bit was the tendency of adding to loosing positions which gives them a higher weight on the overall exposure. It may work out of course in case of a rebound but will create a bigger single loss if not.
Otherwise I found the system is easy to trade and good.
When I first signed up for this system using OptionsXpress it purchased four times the amount of securities that it should have. When I pointed this out, they [Collective2 ?] apologized and quickly sold 3/4 of the positions causing me to incur a $ 2,000 loss with a $ 60,000 portfolio. I do not believe this was LongRuns problem. May not have been Collective 2s fault either.
However, I did notice that OptionsXpress was unable to fill several short sales because they did not have the stock available. On two ocassions, they sold 1 share short. So I had two $ 9.95 commissions for a $ 17 stock. Maybe that is why the realisom factor is so low on this system. I cancelled after about 6 weeks. Maybe it would work better with another Broker
The last review on this system is completely baseless. Ive been a subscriber for quite a while and the system manager is not taking on any more risk than in the past. BTW, the system is only 65 percent invested not 85 as the reviewer claims.
Time to move on.. I recommend this system during a trending market, however that is not the current condition. In order to capture his past performance the manager is taking on greater risk. 85 percent of a portfolio in qld which is a double leveraged etf is similar to hold 170 percent of qqqq. If you have access to the trade history, take a look how we made money verses what he has done the past 3-4 month. It has been a difficult decision to exit, but I will sit on sidelines until the market starts trending again.
This system works, but in a scary way. There are constant small gains, with few losses, but this is only achieved through no use of stop-losses. The system description is rubbish. "Risking 1 percent equity per trade"? There are open drawdowns of 15 to 20 percent. System adds to losing positions, current open losing position as of Feb 24th 2010 is 75 emini contracts. This drew my equity down 15 percent at one point. It may turn around and recover this time, but this system is setting up a subscriber for a very bad day in the future.
This system says it protects capital, well if protecting capital means not using stop losses then blow me down. The current losing position may well turn around, but at the moment im having great fun. The stats prior to this trade showed promise, but if i were you, keep away from this system, very poor money management
Good communication with the system vendor.
I had absolutly no problem trading this system with InteractiveBrokers, but you definetly need a consistent broker, because you are reliant on a good fill.
I have chosen this system, because it keeps drawdowns to a acceptable minimum and has perfect stats, as I am writing this review.
One star dump, because the system is just 4 months old and I think it could be difficult to trade it with less than 20000USD, but for those who have large capital, this is a exceptional system.
This Signal Provider MMA eurusd got caught and caused a large DD. I decided to Dump him. I would like to see more input by C2 to help choosing Signal Providers.
The system actually has two sides. It provides nice small returns on a study basis. However, if you look deeper, this is mostly based on allowing several magnitudes higher intermediate drawdowns, as the system does not handle any kind of stop-loss - and perhaps reenter later at a more favorable price.
So, the question is: are small returns the high drawdowns worth.. you may risk all this.. - everyone has to answer this for one-self. But if you trade it: trade it only very small leverage..
There are several excellent long only stock system on C2 which are based on quantitative statistical analysis, in fact, most of them have a higher return since March 09 when this incredible bull market started. I got attracted to this one because of the low drawdown and my hunch that it will also perform well in a bear market. So far during this correction I have not been disappointed.
Do not be deceived by the fantastic chart. I have subscribed this for 4 months autotrading. I lost money on this. Hard to believe losing on a system with 2000% annual return. Very poor fills. Causes might be: 1) too many subscribers executing the same trades, causing huge slippages. 2) delays by C2 when sending signals due to system overload. I would suggest that the creator of this system to subscribe to his own system and do a set of real tests to find out the reason and let subscribers know. I would suggest C2 to do an internal audit on this system and find out why a seemingly very good system performs badly for subscribers. If there are subscribers out there who had good experience with this system, please post your reviews. Thanks.
This system has an admirable equity curve and two years of good results to back it up. Any negative comments I've seen in chat and forums usually come from other vendors whose own work has significantly lower profits,if any.
I feel for the other reviewer and agree with his assessment. I'm sure the system will be pulled soon, as I can't see anyone trusting this approach going forward. I would say to anyone who is considering trading a system on C2. Once you are committed, sign-up and pay the listing fee for 1-2months before trading. In my opinion, this guy is not following a disciplined approach.
Should be called -$20,000 in 20 hours. He was up over 40% at one point in January, then bet the wrong way and kept adding contracts in a risky attempt to get out of the hole, only to rack-up the mother of all draw-downs. Completely irresponsible—why he didn’t use more conservative stop losses to protect some of these gains is beyond belief. The guy is a total gambler, and I was a fool to subscribe. Had the misfortune of missing the previous run-up with auto-trading offline and later discovered that my manual stop losses were not working due to a Collective2 issue, so have just experienced the worse one day loss of my trading career.
Beware of this system !!!!! is a casino game! In only 3 days the system lost $ 4700, and my account was left with $ 2700 less than before. The system is characterized by risk, in one operation, lost all cattle in several days. Operations are winners at first, stay to the point of losing more than $ 800. Alexander does not fit the market, but it goes "against the market." Despite seeing a losing position, and volume of the market against him, remains stubborn to lose much more than they won. It is an attitude that never gives long term benefits. Puts stop loss then quickly moves when not favor it, losing much more than they had anticipated. I think you have more posibildades to win your money if you play black jack at the casino. If you're throwing your money, this is the right place.
This system is perfect for my IRA account. If you think buy and hold is dead then this system is the answer. Makes money equally in up or down markets. Also, just the right number of trades and he has been spot on with his calls.
The creator of this system, fast respond, good support. But as you can see system has been in green (green) positive for almost 3 months. But you have to have good nerves to get with big drawdawn. I will subscribe again but with a mini account. Standard lot is too big for me with this strategy.
System has changed a few times due to subscriber feedback, and went into idle. Sticking to the system's strategy, one would have missed the past few bullish months, resulting in the broadening the equity curve. Be aware of the chance of loss, it will knock you out of the game, if you don't back your account adequately.
Developer very responsive with updates and replies to questions. No use of margin, which I prefer. Fairly steady rate of positive returns with little risk of drawdowns of 14% or more. Subscription rate and commissions are relatively low, helping the overall net rate of return.
People who look for 100 percent plus returns will be surprised that I give it a 5 star review but I base my rating on the consistency of how this system performed in up and down markets and the low drawdown of about 9 percent in 2009 and of about 13 percent in the backtest from 2001 to 2008.
I also like the fact that the developer provides a separate web page where he explains the system and shows the results from the backtest and the fact that he trades the system for his own account.
