He is claiming that he is a professional - definitely not. Professionals do not say "I trade when I am in the mood for trading.". Your account depends on vendor's mood, do not forget this before subscribing.
He also claims he is a low frequency trader. False. Check out how many trades he took in June and July. He is definitely chasing his tail when in loss and gambling instead of trading.
Although vendor might argue current statistics are superb, more than half of the total return came in one month, March last year. If you exclude that anomaly, stats are very ordinary.
Stay away.
Based on the system results and all the hype in the forums, I decided to check this one out for the month just ending. I have concluded that it would be difficult if not impossible to achieve these “theoretical†system results. Many of the trades are for securities with low liquidity so timing and slippage would be significant with only a handful of subscribers. Also, a number of trades are big bets that use the entire system capital and all available margin which is way too risky for me.
I think this is a nice little system. Good P/L.. The system does a good job of avoiding choppy markets and being selective. The sharpe measurement seems like it should be higher. In June of 2010 there were futures trades with big drawdowns which may still be affecting the measurement. From July 2010 on though risk has been low. I think this system deserves a look.
Frequent small profits and occasional large multi-day drawdowns with the hope of closing these trades with small profits or digestible losses. In late July even cost averaging has been utilized for this purpose. Personally I would prefer a reasonable stop loss than hoping for the mercy of the market for days. Providing "sacrificial givings" in the form of adding to a losing position (ie. cost averaging) is also not my favorite act. After all it may turn out to be a profitable strategy on the long run, but occasionally it will keep you awake for sure. So don't forget to fasten your seatbelt.
I was with FX Trader for only one month and it was a bad month. Overall the track record is quite good albeit with big dd but at $100 per month I can't afford to stick with it. There is no communication about the trades and SL are only placed well into a loosing trade.
If developers lowered their subscription prices they might find people are willing to ride out the tough times based on their equity curve. Can't do that with this one
After this debacle plays out I am calling it quits with this system. I have lost confidence in the developer. Just a week ago we had bagged huge profits only to dive right back into huge drawdown immediately - we didnt have a minute to enjoy our profits :) The strategy seems to be to throw trades out there and see what happens - albeit I am sure they calculated trades but nonetheless they seem to be thrown against the wall and see if they stick.
I subscribed to TSX in July 2011 based on the systems strong performance up to now. So far I have been impressed with the results and also the responsiveness of the system owner. The system is more geared up for autotrading as the signals are relatively high frequency, but it is possible to trade manually as stop losses and limit sales are provided.
All in all a good system that I would definitely recommend at this point.
This system is 6 months old, I am trying it for 1 month. I am very pleased with manager´s atitude towards risk management, his discipline about cutting losses and his knowledge of the global financial markets. This system is not for those who are looking for `holly grail`, it is designed and tradable for investors looking for ´´earth`` returns with affordable drawdowns. 5 positive months out of 6 speaks for themselves. Keep up the good work.
Multiple positions, up to 6 at a time. Double comission and other trading hassle because of hedging. This is an early evaluation, so only 2 stars for now. System needs to prove its worth and the overall interest of hedging for a smooth equity curve. Because of hedging, subscriber would hope for high sharpe ratio.
Agree with the previous review. Excellent performance. Both long and short positions held simultaneously. Developer is communicative, responsive to questions. Does not have as long a history as some, but nevertheless would appear to be one of the better systems on C2.
I wrote to Tim to ask for a stop price to protect my investment during this crisis. Tim quickly provided helpful information to make me relax and finally this trade is profitable.
I have been a subscriber for close to 3 months. The metrics speak for themselves - excellent P/L and high sharpe ratio. The developer clearly puts a lot of time into his trades and sends consistent updates to subscribers. Very happy with Stock Swing Trader.
I think this system will pan out for a profit by the end of the year, but not without some massive heartburn in the form of big drawdowns. I would not be trading this with anything except fun money or you will end up with grey hairs and an ulcer.
With an annual compounded return of less than 70 percent and a max drawdown of almost 40 percent, its hard to justify continuing with this system. The oscillations worked nicely till January 2011 after which things seem to have gone kaput.
If you zoom the chart on July 2010, you will notice that this system has very underperfomed the benchmark. Also, this system is 2X leverage, so the final performance is very poor. it is better to buy the index and avoid spending dollars for SP ETF Timer
It rocks to see somebody who DOES what he SAYS and writes about so when you think "Does this guy really beat the market?" you just have to come here, check his system. Hell, he's good.
I like this system. I trade it together with INVERTERATE - 1 Day Only and Stock Swing Trader. BTW, the vendor should have left out the "and" sign out - even here I cannot type it in - between S and P in the systems name because it does not register when one tries to type it into the search box in order to make chart comparisons. I wonder how many people missed it because of that.
Euro 30 had a short but good run, now the character of the market has changes and the system developer does not know what to do in order to bring the system back to profitability.
